FAQ
Alcohol & Caffeine
We strongly recommend that the client avoids alcohol and caffeine before their appointment. These substances thin the blood and can result in bleeding during the procedure. We ask that the client avoids alcohol the night before the appointment date as well.
*This includes pre-workout supplements
Arrival
Appointment times will vary in length and will have the client laying down for an extended period of time. We advise that the client wear comfortable clothing and style their hair in a manner that will not bother them.
Transportation
You will be fully capable of driving yourself home from the appointment.
Discomfort
Permanent makeup is an art form that breaks the skin and will result in moments of discomfort. Every person is different and has a different pain tolerance. Consistent numbing is applied throughout the appointment, and the client is checked on throughout the procedure to ensure comfort.
Down Time
There is NO down time for the procedures. Minor redness or swelling may occur, however the client does not have to miss work or activities unless it is the client's personal preference. Following proper after care will ensure a quick and easy healing process.
Makeup
We ask that the client arrives to the appointment wearing makeup on their brows how they normally would style them. Wearing brow makeup gives the artist a better idea of your cosmetic goals. Please note that the services require consistent wiping and this will alter base makeup/eyeshadow. It is recommended to wear less makeup to the appointment.
Existing Hair
The original eyebrow in full is not shaved away in order to perform any of the brow services. Stray hairs will be removed in order to clean up the brow area and give a cleaner look. If a client does not want certain areas touched, it will be discussed prior to the beginning of the procedure. All specific needs and desires are respected in S&G Studios.
*We ask that no plucking/waxing/threading is performed two weeks prior to appointment. Avoiding these actions allows the artist to understand natural hair growth patterns.
Service Time
Services typically take two to three hours. Appointment times will vary based on client discussions, brow/lip mapping and pigment retention. Different people require more/less time depending on skin type and how well it accepts pigment. We ask that clients book appointments on days that they will not be rushed for time.
Permanent?
Permanent Makeup is a cosmetic tattoo with results varying in length depending on skin type, sun exposure and after care. Many people prefer having an annual touch up to maintain a fresh look.
Microblading 1-3yrs / Powder Brows 3-5yrs / Lips 3-5yrs / Eyeliner 1-3yrs / Freckles & Beauty Marks 1-3yrs
Skin Type
Brows: Microblading is not recommended for very oily skin as the oil will cause the strokes to blur overtime. Powder brows are suitable for all skin types and will last longer than microblading.
Lips: Lip micropigmentation is suitable for anyone who has healthy lips. If you are prone to cold sores or tend to pick at your lips please contact via email to discuss your questions/concerns.
Scabbing
Light scabbing will occur during the healing process and it is imperative that no plucking/pulling/playing with the scabs occurs as it will remove pigment that is trying to settle into the skin.
Face Wash
Avoid washing the tattoo sight with face washes that contain acids such as glycolic, lactic or AHA.
Working Out
Avoiding hot, sweaty exercise for the first seven days post procedure is imperative to ensure proper healing. The skin is going through a unique scabbing process in which the pigment must have time to settle into the skin. Excessive sweating can soften scabs and cause them to be rubbed away. Removing scabs prematurely in the healing phase will result in loss of pigment and adverse results.
Must Not..
-Be pregnant or breastfeeding on the date of the appointment
-Arrive intoxicated or disoriented to the appointment
GENERAL INFORMATION: Healing time for tattooing varies from person-to-person.
The rate of infection is minimal if the aftercare is followed appropriately. It is very
important to remember not to touch the tattooed site without first washing your
hands. Normal body reactions to tattooing may include: redness, swelling, and/or
minor discomfort at the site. If after 48 hours more severe complications occur
(increased redness, swelling or hardness at the site, pus-like drainage, onset of
fever, and/or prolonged pain at the site or respiratory difficulty following tongue
piercing), contact your personal physician.
